Empower Your Customers -- Energize Your DSM Programs The Energy Intelligence Suite™ (EIS) is a modular, enterprise-grade software platform that enables Utilities, Power Brokers, and Curtailment Service Providers (CSPs) to offer a range of energy efficiency and Demand Response services to business and residential customers. EIS™ provides detailed information for monitoring energy usage patterns, offering a diverse set of rate programs, managing demand response events, enabling energy efficiency, and managing and controlling consumption – all in real-time.
EIS™ offers energy efficiency enabling control devices, load control via mesh networks, smart grid integration, and energy cost data analysis. It connects power providers and customers like never before – fully leveraging Smart Grid technologies – and providing an information bridge in areas where Smart Grid systems have not been implemented.
System Overview
EIS offers standardized interface points for secure, seamless integration with utility back end systems, regional transmission operators (RTO), meter data management systems, and AMI enabled mesh networks. At its core, EIS is architectured utilizing enterprise-class load balancing and server scalability to enable rapid deployment, large- scale deployments, and immediate expandability. The solution provides components that support both energy consumers and utilities, delivering best in-class tools to both channels.
Primary EIS Modules:
EIS OpCenter™
EIS OpCenter™ is the command and control portal of EIS. OpCenter offers Utilities, Power Brokers, and CSPs the ability to initiate and manage demand response events, define and offer rate programs, and provide electricity usage and energy efficiency information to their customers.
EIS HomeSMART™ and EIS BusinessSMART™
These modules provide the customer-facing front end of EIS. They provide business and residential users with robust energy analysis tools, communication from their power provider, and a user-centric Home Area Network (HAN) solution. Users can access HomeSMART and BusinessSMART through the following devices and applications:
EIS Portal™ -- a Web-based application for any personal computer with an Internet connection
EIS Mobile™ -- (available Q3 2010) a mobile application that enables control and monitoring through mobile devices

EIS Central™
EIS Central™ is the database, data processing, and analytics foundation of the suite. EIS Central™ stores, serves, and responds to requests from HomeSMART™ and BusinessSMART™, customer interfaces and EIS OpCenter™, the utility interface that controls the EIS system. EIS Central also includes secure web services that enable integration with legacy utility systems and customer, energy, and price information necessary for EIS functionality.
EIS Touch™
EIS Touch is the premier on-premise device for managing energy, analyzing usage, participating in demand response, and designing unique efficiency strategies for the Energy Intelligence Suite™. This user-centric device is built with a platform designed specifically to enable customers to understand, manage, and change their energy usage.

EIS Mobile™
EIS Mobile is a mobile application that allows HomeSMART™ and BusinessSMART™ users to access and manage their energy management space. EIS Mobile™ is available as an iPhone application, Blackberry application, and Windows Mobile application.
EIS Gateway™
EIS Gateway is the centralized intelligence, data store, and controller on location for the EIS HomeSMART™ and BusinessSMART™ HAN. The EIS Gateway™ is responsible for communication with Smart Grid AMI utility meters. The Gateway also has the capability of issuing control signals across mesh networks when controllable devices are present and exchanging data with the on-site EIS Touch™ when present. The EIS Gateway™ is an embedded solution that can be LAN, WAN, or WWAN enabled, and contains both ZigBee and Z-Wave mesh network radios.
EIS Control Devices
EIS Control Devices are mesh-network enabled devices that allow for full interaction and control with the EIS HomeSMART™ and BusinessSMART™. Devices include wall switches, outlets, fan controls, thermostats, plug-in units, large appliance controls, and demand response devices.
EIS Meter Bridge™
EIS Meter Bridge™ enables HomeSMART™ and BusinessSMART™ to collect, display, and process energy data from a traditional energy meter, which allows EIS to be deployed to customer locations that are not yet equipped with a Smart Grid ZigBee-enabled meter. The device communicates via ZigBee to the EIS Gateway™ to provide real-time performance information to EIS. The EIS Meter Bridge™ also enables multi-dwelling support and long distance communication in condos, apartments, and other separate locations.
